I usually don't like to promote my dislike of teams, but in this case I just can't help it.
You see, I'm a lifelong Padres fan. That means I've been spending most of my 24 years devastated with the Padres lack of playoff success. Yet again, the Padres are making my life painful, sitting dead last in the NL West. Not only are the Padres in last, but the San Francisco Giants—quite possibly my least favorite team in baseball—are sitting pretty in first.
To make matters worse, I live in San Francisco. I'm constantly mauled by the orange and black SF logo wherever I turn. To make matters worse times two, the Giants won the World Series last year, my first fall living in the city. It was pretty much the opposite of awesome.

After way too much SF pride last season post World Series, the fans are just as confident this season. Here I am, yet again, surrounded by overly-cocky Giants fans. Catch my bitterness yet?
But...this past weekend I was gifted with a little slice of heaven. The San Francisco Giants were SWEPT (yes, that means they lost every single game of the series) by their Bay Area rival, the Oakland Athletics.

Now, I'm not a fan of the A's and I'm definitely not claiming that I root for the team, but when it comes to the Giants, I'm a fan of whoever they're competing against.
The A's (who you should know are almost as bad as my Padres this season, pulling up the rear in their division) left the Giants feeling like big, fat losers. And I couldn't be happier. The A's displayed some major power this series, and newbie Jemile Weeks made the Oakland fans proud.

Sorry to all my Giants-loving friends, but I just couldn't resist.
Thank you, Oakland!
